Venue: La Ville Hotel & Suites CITY WALK, Dubai, Autograph Collection
We are delighted to be hosting our IN PERSON Certification course in Dubai with Helen Gautschi & Denise Furness!
This course will focus on a number of areas that functional medicine practitioners will be working with in their clinical practice, covering the role that genetic expression plays in a person’s risk for chronic disease. When combined with functional testing, genetics provides objective information allowing for a more precise treatment strategy.
Key Objectives:
- Learn How, If We Understand Genetic Expression, Intervention Strategies May Help Prevent Disease Occurring.
- Learn Which Supplements Are Advantageous To Take With Particular Genetic Expression.
- Understand the Benefits of Including A Genetic Test For every Patient and be able to Convey this Confidently
A combination of guided self-study and in-person training, you will be introduced to the concept of nutrigenetics and nutrigenomics, and how to apply the science in practice. The course provides important information about genes and the underlying principles of our core DNA tests, increasing your understanding and confidence to use these tests. During the in-person training, you will also learn how to use genetic testing in collaboration with functional testing. The results of these two test methods offer a robust platform on which to build highly individualised treatment strategies.
Our Educators:
Dr Denise Furness, PhD, BSc(Hons), RNutr
Dr Denise Furness, PhD is a molecular geneticist and functional medicine practitioner. She is a pioneer in the field of nutrigenomics and epigenetics (precision medicine) with 20 years’ experience. Denise began her career as a research scientist focusing on folate nutrigenomics, methylation, and DNA damage. She has published her work in peer reviewed journals and won numerous awards for her research and conference presentations. In 2012 she founded Your Genes and Nutrition and began applying her knowledge in clinical practice. Denise has a special interest in fertility, thyroid and autoimmunity (after recovering from autoimmune thyroid disease herself), as well as healthy ageing. She is currently running a biological ageing study, aimed at improving mental health and naturally slowing the ageing process.
Helen Gautschi, RD
Helen Gautschi, a registered dietician with over twelve years of experience in personalised healthcare, heads up the research and development and education for dnalife, with a focus on nutrigenetic testing. Helen is completing her MSc in Nutritional Epidemiology and Public Health at Wageningen University, focusing on early life exposures and breast cancer risk. She has a passion for nutritional biochemistry and specialises in nutritional genomics and its application in personalised healthcare, advocating their role in chronic disease prevention and healthy ageing. She has spearheaded the development of DNA test offerings related to genetics and mental health, pain management, and maternal health, and developed related online educational courses for dnalife. Helen frequently lectures at local and international conferences on nutrigenetics and personalised healthcare.
